One of the coolest things I’ve ever done is to ride in a hot air balloon. We went in AZ for my 40th and it was amazing. I would love to do it again in Napa, and one of these days we will. Yes it is expensive, but it is moving and beautiful and awe-some. As was the helicopter rides we have done over the erupting volcanoes in Hawaii. Again way too expensive, but experiences that have stayed with me that I would give up for a second!

PS: when we lived in STL, within walking distance of Forest Park, we would go the night before the Balloon Race to the Balloon Glow, which is just as it sounds: glowing balloons from the fires at night; a very cool sight to see!

In reply to wendyj59. I don't think you'd get me into them either, Wendy! And as Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz" can tell us, it's best not to count on a hot air balloon for getting home. Thanks for writing!

They (the balloons) look really impressive but you wouldn’t get me in one I’m way too unadventurous! I’ve never been adrift. I like to know where I’m going and, more importantly, how to get home.
