Heidi, I really enjoyed your post. Very wise, and a good way to mark your 30 years!

Glad you have a steady, too, Heidi. I look forward to seeing your cancer response do’s and don’t’s–a great service. My personal favorite, in response to telling a friend soon after I started chemo, that my hair would soon fall out: “Well, Lorrie, it’s only vanity!”

Thanks for sharing, Suzanne. You’re right, the yin and yang of marriage is awesome.

Slightly off topic – but still a medical condition. When our daughter (now age 21) was born, she did not suck, gag, or swallow. We had to feed her with an NG tube. The nurses instructed us on how to change it every few days. I couldn’t bear to do it, so my husband took on that role. Our pediatric neurologist insisted that we take her to a feeding specialist so she could learn HOW to suck from a bottle. The same steady handed husband could not bear to sit there for long periods of time while she “learned” how to suck from a plastic nipple. Thankfully I was good at that, so it was in my opinion, an even exchange. Bottom line – the yin and yang of marriage is awesome.

We have gone through cancer, cancer scares, many surgeries and all the bumps, bruises and breaks that come with raising two active and (knock wood) healthy kids. Next month I am posting my do’s and don’t’s to say to cancer patients/survivors on my blog, would love to hear your reactions.
