Thanks for your keen observations, Janine. I saw “Her” a second time, and was even more impressed by how tightly written and filmed it is. Theodore’s candy-gorgeous workplace is filled with hanging baskets of carnivorous plants! Thunder rumbles almost imperceptibly throughout. And yes, smoggy Shanghai! So perfect!

One of my favorite pivotal scenes was when Theodore takes Sam to a secluded cabin in the woods for a “romantic” weekend that only the carbon-based lifethings can recognize. Of course that’s the weekend she’s out doing other stuff. Such a tight story.
