He decorated the place, and my husband and I worked. We ate warm soup and then went to Costco at 7:30pm. It was perfect. Almost no one there. we stocked up on various holiday part supplies, including alcohol, making it in and out in half an hour. Then we went to Trader Joes, another usually horrifying experience during the holidays. In and out in fifteen minutes.

This storm was nothing in comparison to the deluge that greeted us when we moved here in February of 1997. Sheets of rain flying sideways for days. We thought we’d made the wrong decision.

We got a lot of rain and at one point my husband thought it prudent to bail some of the ponding water off our patio. I know that south of us is still recovering, now 2+ days later.
